VaSonne has served the County of Los Angeles for over 25 years as a social worker with the department of Children Family Services. She is currently as emergency response social worker. As a social worker, she conducts investigations for alleged child abuse, including physical and emotional abuse, general neglect, sexual abuseand exploitation.

Over the years, VaSonne has seen firsthand how substance abuse affects families for generations and she believes the affects are devastating, as it can result in children going without their basic needs being met and being abused. Some of these children are removed from their families and linger in foster care for years or until they ageout because their parents or guardians were never able to maintain sobriety.

VaSonne believes that if we can educate children early on the dangers of substances abuse and the possible long term affects, we can make a great difference in the world. That’s why she is so glad to be part of the “Smart Kids Don’t Get High,” foundation.
